Time and being organised: IELTS Speaking Part 1 questions
Last updated 21 July 2026
In short
Practice questions
The examiner usually opens with something like: "Are you usually punctual, or do you tend to run late?"
How do you plan your day?
Do you like to do things in advance or at the last minute?
Do you use a diary or your phone to stay organised?
Is it easy for you to manage your time?
How to answer Part 1 questions
The goal is a natural, extended answer — never one word, never a speech.
- Part 1 lasts 4–5 minutes and covers familiar topics about you and your life.
- Answer in 2–3 sentences: respond directly, then add a reason, detail, or example.
- Don't give one-word answers, but don't over-talk — the examiner has a set of questions to get through.
- Speak naturally about your real life; there are no 'right' answers, only clearer and less clear ones.
