    Frequently asked questions

    Are these official IELTS tests?
No. They are original tests written for SpeakMetry in the format of the real paper: the same parts, the same question types and the same printed instructions. SpeakMetry is not affiliated with the IELTS Partners.
Can I take a Reading test for free?
Every passage and question here is free to read. A free account can sit one full test on the sixty-minute clock and have it marked. A Premium Pass raises that to four tests a day.
What is the difference between Academic and General Training Reading?
Academic Reading has three long passages. General Training has short everyday texts in Section 1, work-related texts in Section 2 and one longer passage in Section 3. Both have forty questions in sixty minutes, and each has its own band conversion table.
How is a Reading test marked?
Against the answer key: words copied from the passage must be spelt as the passage spells them, and an answer over the word limit is wrong. The review shows every answer in the passage, with the words that settle it.
