How it works

Open a ready IELTS deck, or make one from a topic, a word list or a text. Choose the level, the number of cards and, if you like, a translation.

Start with Flashcards: say the meaning before you flip, then mark each card Know it or Still learning.

Use Learn until every card is known: you pick the word first, then type it, and missed words come back.

Finish with Spell and Test. Export the deck to Anki or Quizlet to keep reviewing it there.

Why each card carries collocations and examples
IELTS rewards vocabulary you can use, and using a word means knowing what it goes with: you “mitigate the effects” of something, “raise awareness” of it, “pose a threat” to it. A word learned from a definition alone is recognised but rarely used. Every card shows the word in two sentences and with its common partners, so what you learn is ready for Writing and Speaking.
Learn, then spell, then test
Recognising a word is easier than producing it, so Learn moves from choosing the word to typing it, and only counts a word as known after two right answers in a row. Spell trains what the Listening paper marks: hearing a word and writing it with every letter right. A test at the end shows what has stuck, and sends the words you missed back to Learn.
